JeffCAP Head Start Birth to Five

JeffCAP Head Start has a 55-year old history of providing comprehensive, high quality, developmentally appropriate services to children and their families in Jefferson Parish. The Head Start program supports a child’s growth and development by providing early childhood education, individualized teaching, safe, clean, well equipped classrooms, health, nutrition and mental health services. We work with the parent if their child has a disability or other special needs, we assist in receiving services and we adhere to the IEP or IFSP. We also strengthen our families’ thorough parent education, parent support, and providing links to Jefferson Parish resources and services. Head Start serves children 3-5 years and is a “center based”, ten (10) month program.

Our Early Head Start program provides comprehensive, high quality, individualized services to children and their families. The EHS program supports a child’s growth and development by providing early childhood education, individualized teaching, safe, clean, well equipped classrooms, supporting social and emotional development, emerging communication and physical skills, health, nutrition and mental health services. We work with the parent if their child has a disability or other special needs, will assist in receiving services and will adhere to the IFSP.

We also strengthen our families’ thorough parent education, parent support, and links to Jefferson Parish resources and services. Early Head Start serves children from 6 weeks-3 years, in a “center based”, twelve (12) month program. Early Head Start also has a Pregnant Woman program with comprehensive pre-natal and post-natal care and services.
