JEFFERSON PARISH RECEIVES AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN POPULAR
ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORTING AND CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR EXCELLENCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING

JEFFERSON, LA – The Jefferson Parish Department of Finance is the recipient of the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2022 from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

According to Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, “These awards represent a significant achievement by our Jefferson Parish Accounting and Finance Departments. I am once again so proud of the attention and efforts of our staff, especially Finance Director Timothy Palmatier and Accounting Director Eric Chi for meeting the highest principles of financial reporting year after year and receiving this honor.”

The Jefferson Parish Accounting and Finance Departments have received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 37th consecutive year. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. In order to receive the award, Jefferson Parish had to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

Established by the GFOA in 1991, the Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award is a prestigious national award-recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports. Jefferson Parish has been a recipient of this award for 27 consecutive years.
