Overview
Beginning Saturday, July 6, 2024, the East Bank recycling drop-off site will move from the parking lot of the Joseph S. Yenni Building to Republic Service’s Materials Recovery Facility (804 L&A Road, Metairie, LA 70001). Additionally, hours of operation for both the East Bank and the West Bank drop-off sites (6440 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, LA 70072) will now be from 8 a.m. to noon.

Since Saturday marks the halfway point of the drop-off recycling program, REALCYCLE will now provide services at the East Bank operation and Glass Half Full will take over services at the West Bank site. If weather conditions force the cancellation of a planned collection event, collection will take place the following Saturday.

The following materials will continue to be collected (please pre-sort your items, see attached description - this will help shorten the wait times):

• Glass bottles & jars (no mirrors or broken glass, ceramics, pottery, etc.)
• Cardboard
• Aluminum/tin/steel cans
• Plastics #1 and #2 (#1 includes soda/water bottles); #2 includes milk/juice/shampoo/detergent containers)
• Mixed Paper

Guidelines

• Only recycle what is on the list above. Contact the Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs with questions about other items. Representatives from REALCYCLE and Glass-Half-Full will also be on site to assist with any questions residents may have about their recycling.
• Only recycle the clean items. Before tossing metals and plastic food containers, give them a rinse. Anything too dirty like greasy pizza boxes or take-out containers should go in the garbage. This helps avoid contamination and mold.
• Don't bag recycling; toss recyclables directly in the bin. Thin, plastic garbage bags can clog the mechanics of recycling sorters. Filmy plastic, like packaging and single use plastic bags, must be recycled through a separate process. Most grocery stores will take back these kinds of bags.
• Breakdown boxes and crush cans to fit more in your bin. 

Notice
Jefferson Parish residents using the drop-off sites will be asked to provide a driver's license or utility bill to verify residence before recycling will be accepted. Residential and small commercial customers receiving curbside trash collection in unincorporated Jefferson Parish, the Town of Jean Lafitte and all Jefferson Parish municipalities are allowed to use the drop-off recycling site as well. Customers will continue to not see a charge for recycling on their utility bill while curbside collection is paused.
